Lots of football coming up this weekend. Barcelona-Valencia for me is the pick of the lot in Europe, though Serie A looks more exciting now with Inter losing to Catania on Friday 3-1. Victory for AC Milan against Chievo on Sunday will bring them within a point of their city rivals and ensure a great finish with 10 matches left (let’s not forget a Roma win would bring them to within four points).

Good Day for Godoy
Godoy Cruz de Mendoza find themselves at the top of the Torneo Clausura standings in Argentina thanks to a 2-1 win over Atletico Tucuman on Friday. Outside of Argentina this is not necessarily a known club and there is a reason for that. Godoy Cruz was founded in 1921 and the club has spent most of its existence in the Argentine provincial leagues. In 1994 the team reached the 2nd division and finally the Primera Division twelve years later.
Since then they have been sort of a yo-yo club between the top two divisions. The team seems to have solidified their place in the top flight now and it remains to be seen whether they can maintain a title charge as the season progresses. Continue reading
